Data collectors
The initial phase in defining the standardization of activity types involved identifying the most frequently used activity types across various data sources. To achieve this, we consulted the activity types recorded by major data collectors, including Google Fit, Apple Health, Huawei Health, and Samsung.
ROOK’s activity types
After compiling the activity types from prominent data collectors, a consolidation process was undertaken to encompass all distinct activity types identified among these collectors. This amalgamation yielded a comprehensive set of 158 activity types, which are subsequently provided to ROOK customers.
Correspondence with Data Sources
With the established set of 158 activity types in mind, the data team manually undertook the task of establishing correspondences between the activity types of each data source and those adopted by ROOK. This comprehensive list currently includes matches for all activity types from the following data sources: Google Fit, Fitbit, Garmin, Polar, Health Connect, Apple Health, and Oura. Notably, Whoop and Withings were excluded from this analysis as they do not furnish this specific type of information in their data.
