Data collectors

The first step to define the standardization of the activity types consists of knowing the activity types most used among the different data sources, for this we chose to consult the types of activities of the main data collectors (Heath Connect, Apple Health, and Samsung).

ROOK’s activity types

Having all the activity types handled by the big data collectors, a process of joining them was carried out, where we tried to include all the different activity types among the different collectors. This union resulted in a set of 160 activity types, which are the ones that ROOK provides to customers. The complete list can be found in Activities dictionary.

Correspondence with data sources

With the established set of 160 activity types in mind, the data team manually undertook the task of establishing correspondences between the activity types of each data source and those adopted by ROOK. This comprehensive list currently includes matches for all activity types from the following data sources: Google Fit, Fitbit, Garmin, Polar, Health Connect, Apple Health, and Oura. This correspondence is listed in ROOK Activity Types.
