Legal & Contracts covers two separate layers of consent. Everyone accepts a short Sandbox agreement up front, before they can use the portal at all. Formal contracts — the MSA, DPA, and, where they apply, the SCC Addendum and BAA — are required only later, to unlock Production. Country and Sandbox consent gate the whole portal; the contracting agreements gate Production specifically.
Important: If you're a ROOK Legacy client, don't worry — these modules aren't meant to appear in your portal.
What do I need to accept before I can use the portal at all?
Two gates appear before you can use the portal at all — and only the Owner can clear them:
Country — required once, because it determines which agreements apply to you.
Sandbox consent — a short set of terms covering trial/Sandbox use. Everyone accepts this regardless of plan; when the documents are updated later, you're asked again for just what changed.
What contracts do I need to sign to unlock Production?
Contracting agreements live under Account → Legal & Contracts. During the free trial, this page just says "Contracting agreements come later" — real contracts only appear once you activate a plan.
Once you have a plan, you'll see:
Document | When it applies |
MSA | Always required. |
DPA | Always required. |
SCC Addendum | Only if your end users include people in the EU, UK or Switzerland. |
BAA | Only if you're a HIPAA Covered Entity or Business Associate. |
How are the SCC Addendum and BAA added to my account?
The SCC Addendum and BAA are added based on what you self-declared when the Client was registered. If one turns out to apply later, you can add it yourself from the Legal & Contracts page — but you can't remove one that's no longer needed there; that requires contacting ROOK, since unchecking it wouldn't undo an agreement you already signed.
How do I sign a contracting agreement?
Review opens the document. Signing asks for the full name of the signer (default is you — change it if someone else signs on the organization's behalf) and a checkbox confirming they have legal authority to execute agreements for the entity. Some agreements are marked "Signed offline" — signed directly with ROOK outside the portal; ask your account manager for a copy if you need one.
When does Production actually unlock?
Once every required document is signed:
If you already have an active payment, Production unlocks immediately — a celebration modal offers to switch you over.
If you don't yet, it unlocks as soon as your first payment is registered.
FAQFrequently asked questions
Why don't I see any contracts yet? You're still on the free trial — activate a plan first (Account → Plan & Payments).
I need the SCC Addendum but it isn't listed. Add it yourself from the Classification section — it self-declares that your end users include EU/UK/Swiss individuals.
I no longer need the BAA — can I remove it? Not from the portal. Contact ROOK; unchecking it here wouldn't undo a signature already on file.
Where's my signed copy? Click Review on a signed document to download it; for anything marked "Signed offline," ask your account manager.
